Fashion's funny sometimes. We were already planning on putting together a shopping guide on cinched-waist jackets when New York Fashion Week rolled around. One of Fall 2025's key trends just so happens to be cinched-waist clothing. Everyone from Khaite to Carolina Herrera is looking inward, sending corset-style tops, nipped-in blazers and even drawstring jackets down the runways. So we're slightly adjusting our strategy.
Now we're including all manner of jackets, tops, dresses and blazers in our roundup. Some are decently constricted, others are far more subtle. All are more tailored to spring than fall TBH. Why? Because for the whole concept to really work, other people need to be able to see the cinch. Which is hard to do if your star piece is layered under a heavy, outsize fall or winter coat. Plus, plenty of top picks either have short sleeves or no sleeves at all. Not exactly ideal when temps dip into the 50s or lower. Although you'll still be able to rock some of the jackets come September.
