CID and forensics officers have been spotted investigating following a serious sexual assault in a Scots park.
A 44-yer-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man while talking in the Durrockstock Park area of Paisley. The incident is understood to have occurred close to the dam at the park at around 9pm on Saturday, July 16.
Police Scotland have said that the suspect is described as being in his 50s with dark grey hair. It is believed that he was wearing a dark top or jumper, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers at the time.
Officers were seen patrolling the area and witnesses have said CID and forensics officers are present throughout the park. Sections of Durrockstock Park have been taped off, including the newly-refurbished playground, which was reopened last month.
The park has been taped off at at the Waverley Road end but continues to remain open from the Durrockstock Road entrance. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a serious sexual assault in the Durrockstock Park area in Paisley at around 9pm on Saturday, 17 July, 2022.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Detective Inspector Alex Allardyce added: “Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace the man responsible and would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or concerning in the area at the time to please get in touch.
“We would like to reassure locals that additional patrols are in place and anyone with information should contact officers on 101 quoting reference 3611 of 16 July, 2022.”
