Ciaran Meenagh responds to Rory Gallagher return question after Derry win Ulster title

Ciaran Meenagh remained tight-lipped when asked if Rory Gallagher would return as Derry boss and instead wanted to focus on the Oak Leaf County's performance after their Ulster title win over Armagh.

Just two days after Rory Gallagher announced he would step back as Derry boss, the side won the Ulster Senior Football Championship in dramatic fashion.

Derry and Armagh found themselves level after extra-time, with the game decided by a penalty shootout.

Ciaran McFaul would score the decisive spot kick after Odhran Lynch made three penalty saves for Derry to secure back-to-back Ulster Championship titles.

And speaking after the game, Meenagh was asked if he would be staying on as manager or if Rory Gallagher would return.

He told BBC Northern Ireland: "I only want to talk about what happened today and I'm only here to talk about Derry and Derry today and the performance.

"It has been a challenging week for everybody but the main focus is on football. We didn't want any fuss or any drama and we just had to deal with it and get on with business and I think we proved that today."
