Ciaran Hinds and Kenneth Branagh rub shoulders with Hollywood's elite at Oscar luncheon

Oscar nominees Ciaran Hinds and Kenneth Branagh rubbed shoulders with Hollywood’s elite at the 94th annual Oscar’s luncheon.

The event took place in Los Angeles – less than three weeks before the Academy Awards is due to take place.

Ciaran and Kenneth flew into LA for the star-studded luncheon, where they joined Kirsten Stewart, Will Smith, Benedict Cumberbatch.

Hinds is up for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars this year for his role in Belfast, while Branagh has received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay nominations for his semi-autobiographical film.

Branagh’s nominations mean Branagh has set a new Oscars record, receiving seven nominations in seven different categories over the course of his career.

Hinds and Branagh spent the luncheon with some of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars.

Among those in attendance included Will Smith, who recently won Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and who is tipped for the Best Actor Oscar. He attended alongside his King Richard co-star Aunjanue Ellis, who made a dazzling appearance in a bright pink and black smoking jacket.

Ellis is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category alongside Kerry actress Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Judi Dench (Belfast) and Kirsten Dunst (The Power of the Dog).

Smith was also seen embracing fellow Best Actor nominee Denzel Washington, who is nominated for his role in The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Other friends and colleagues made touching reunions at the event, including Benedict Cumberbatch and his Spider-Man co-star Alfred Molina, who reprised his role as the villainous Doc Ock in the superhero film. Cumberbatch is nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Power of the Dog.

Andrew Garfield, who also returned for the web-slinging blockbuster, was seen laughing along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who directed him in Netflix's Tick, Tick…Boom!.

Garfield is nominated for Best Actor for the biographical film about the life of composer Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick…Boom! is Hamilton writer Miranda's feature directorial debut.

Best Actress nominee Jessica Chastain, who has been recognised for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, in which she stars alongside Garfield, also attended the luncheon.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, who has been nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Lost Daughter, attended the event alongside her husband Peter Sarsgaard, who plays the memorable role of Professor Hardy in the psychological drama based on the Elena Ferrante novel.

Sibling duo Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell also attended, following a slew of award nominations for their original song No Time to Die, the theme for the latest Bond franchise instalment.

Eilish wore a black velvet jacket while her brother wore a striking red shirt and matching shoes underneath an olive green jacket and trousers.

Hollywood power couple Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, who are nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress Oscars, respectively, also posed for pictures.

Bardem has received his nod for Being the Ricardos, in which he stars with Nicole Kidman, while Cruz's nomination comes for her role in Parallel Mothers.

The Oscar winners will be announced on 27 March.

The hosts have been announced as Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes.
