An East Kilbride church is celebrating its own 70th Jubilee this summer.
As well as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee taking place, East Mains Baptist Church is throwing a ‘Community Day Celebration’ to mark 70 years in the town.
1952 was when the first Baptist presence was established in East Kilbride.
The beginnings of the Church were small - for the first eighteen months just eight adults and six children attended the Sunday services.
East Kilbride Baptist Church (East Mains) was then established and has been telling the Christian message in the town ever since.
The church, in conjunction with the Village Centre, is to hold its ‘Community Day Celebration’ on Saturday, June 4 from 10am to 2pm.
Activities on the day include a bouncy castle, face painting, market stalls and beat the goalie with refreshments including a candy floss and a slushie machine.
Village Centre groups will also be on hand promoting their services.
Entry to the event is free and the church is appealing to all those associated with the church (past and present) and members of the local community to join them in their celebrations.
