A church minister who is a radio DJ at Scotland’s largest prison has been honoured for her kindness and positivity.
Rev Jill Clancy took over the Barbed Wireless radio station at HMP Barlinnie in Glasgow during the first lockdown in 2020 because the men who usually ran it were not allowed out of their cells because of covid.
Rev Clancy, known as DJ Jolly Jilly, has been given a Meritorious Award from the Scottish Prison Service in recognition of her positivity and the care she provided to prisoners and staff over the last two years.
The prison chaplain said: “Being recognised for my contribution was a big surprise, I was gobsmacked and couldn’t quite believe it.
"It is a privilege to work at HMP Barlinnie.”
