Chuck's Rotisserie: new high-end roast chicken restaurant to debut in Brixton

A new affordable rotisserie and deli will open in Brixton this spring, serving 24-hour marinated roast chicken and pork, sandwiches and salads.

Chuck’s Rotisserie is the work of restaurateurs Kieran Monteiro and Sam Mousawi, who ran successful hospitality groups – Boma and Park Road Kitchen respectively – for many years.

It will see the two partner up for the first time and both have picked a site on Market Row in Brixton Village to debut the concept.

The idea, both said, is based around a “love letter to the profound, atavistic bliss of rotisserie”, with sustainably sourced chicken and pork cooked low and slow on a grill named Esmerelda.

“She will turn cartwheels for you in order to deliver contentment,” Monteiro and Mousawi promised. Meats will be served with hot drippings, roast potatoes, coleslaw and broccoli.

“We’re passionate about food that makes people feel good,” said Mousawi. “We understand the joy and satisfaction implicit in breaking bread together and receiving nourishment offered not only from the food on the plate but the goodwill with which it is prepared and served.”

The menu is simple and divided into three sections: sandwiches (£10), rotisserie boxes (£12) and salads (£11). The sandwiches will be made with ciabatta rather than focaccia, now a London tradition, and there are keen nods to true hospitality, including the use of Valentina hot sauce, much-loved among food aficionados and one that long predates the current fad-like boom.

Monteiro, for whom Chuck’s is something of a hospitality comeback after the closure of Boma, said Brixton is the perfect location for the new restaurant.

“We love the area for its energy and diversity and we’re excited to add something new and delectable to the mix,” he said.
