Christy Moore announces special Vicar Street gig for Women's Aid

Christy Moore has today announced a special gig at Dublin's Vicar Street that will raise money for Women's Aid.

The concert will take place on July 11 with tickets going on sale on Monday, May 23 at 9am.

Women's Aid is an Irish charity that has been working to stop domestic violence against women and children in Ireland since 1974. Acting as a support service to those who face these troubles, its ethos is based on listening to and believing women and giving them the support they need to escape and recover from abuse.

Additionally, the organisation seeks to make Ireland a place where such violence is not tolerated through advocacy, representation and policy reform.

Tickets for Christy Moore's July gig at Vicar Street start at €50.

This isn't the first time the Irish music legend has put his musical talents to good use in aid of charity.

In April, the beloved singer took to the Vicar Street stage for a special gig that raised money for the Irish Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

All funds received from ticket sales went directly to Red Cross partners in Ukraine and neighbouring countries to assist them in their humanitarian efforts.

Christy’s latest studio album Flying into Mystery was released on November 19 and features 12 songs.

The record is described as "a collection that Christy has brought to life through his distinctive writing and unique interpretation of other artists’ songs".

Christy has garnered a loyal fanbase both in Ireland and abroad during his decades of performing. The singer has released more than 25 solo albums including Paddy on the Road (1969) and his multi-platinum pair of live albums, On the Road and Magic Nights in 2017 and 2018.
