Christopher Nkunku highlights reasons behind Arsenal and Man Utd transfer rumours

Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side have a huge few weeks ahead of them. The race for the top four is finely poised, with the Gunners two points ahead of North London rivals Tottenham in fourth.

Wins over Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham have seen them claw their way back into the driving seat with four matches to go. One of which is the North London derby against Spurs, which could be a deciding factor come the end of the season.

Discussing the race for top four, Arteta said on Sunday: “Well, mathematically everything is open so, we’re going to have to go to Leeds and win again because everybody is going to put pressure because everybody wants to play in the position that we are right now. We have to handle that and we have a great opportunity and that willingness and motivation that we have is driving us to continue to do something.”

While Champions League is most certainly the priority, one eye will be kept closely on potential movement in the transfer market for the summer. The Gunners will be keen to bolster their squad heading into next season and a number of players have been linked.

One of those is RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, who is also rumoured to be of interest to Manchester United. It’s no wonder why either, when taking a look at his impressive statistics for the Bundesliga club.

The 24-year-old has 32 goal involvements in 32 league appearances this season, scoring 17 and assisting 15. His European numbers are just as impressive, scoring seven and assisting twice in six Champions League matches, while he has three goals in five Europa League ties.

And, as per DAZN, his numbers go even further than that. The Frenchman has 19 goal involvements in the second half of the season - the best in Germany - while his 47 goal involvements in all competitions this season is a club record.

It goes to show why he is reportedly being scouted by so many top European clubs. With his contract expiring in 2024 and his form red hot, he could make that move this summer.
