Christopher Jullien's life after Celtic is descending into a tough one as Montpellier struggle near the Ligue 1 relegation zone.
The French defender left Parkhead in the summer for a return to France after finding senior minutes restricted in Ange Postecoglou's first season in charge, following recovery from a serious knee injury. They have lost four in a row - including a Coupe De France defeat to Ligue 2 strugglers Pau - and were defeated 3-0 at home by Nantes on Sunday alongside two red cards. They sit two points above the relegation zone in 15th but accusations are flying amid the results.
Jullien himself said post-match that 'every morning we wake up with a headache' but Score.FR have labelled him a 'finger-pointing player.' They claim the Frenchman did not go and 'clap' Montpellier's president or his teammates on the sidelines after the game, a move that did not go down well at 'a club in sporting and internal decline.'
After joining Celtic in the summer of 2019 from Toulouse, Jullien established himself as a fans' favourite and scored the winner in 2019's League Cup final against Rangers. That same match-up will contest this year's showpiece next month.
But in the meantime, the former Parkhead defender wants to reslove his current side's problems. He told Amazon Prime: "It's not easy when everything is against us.
"We don't see it well because we work a lot, we believe in it, we tell ourselves that today is our day and that we are going to crush them... then there are all these game facts.
"A second red that makes things even more difficult. Nantes are a good team, but when we give so many cards to our opponent, it's difficult to compete.
"We are not successful, the supporters show their dissatisfaction, it is one thing. But we remain focused on the field."
