With the festive season now well and truly over you might be wondering how to dispose of your Christmas tree if it's still lingering in your living room. Thankfully for anyone living in Cardiff the council will be collecting real Christmas trees directly from your home over eight days in January.
No other garden waste will be collected during this time and trees must be put loose on the kerbside, Cardiff council has said. It added that trees must not be put in your garden waste bin, all decorations must be removed, any trees under 6ft should be kept whole, and trees bigger than 6ft must be cut in two.
The authority has advised residents who do not usually have a garden waste collection at their properties to put their trees out on the opposite week to their black bin or black bag collection. Here is the full list of collection dates for each area of the capital:
- January 10: Pentyrch, Creigiau, Radyr and Morganstown, Whitchurch, Heath West
- January 11: Heath East, Llandaff North, Llandaff, Gabalfa, Cathays
- January 12: Old St Mellons, Trowbridge, Llanrumney, Rumney
- January 13: Tongwynlais, Rhiwbina, Llanishen, Lisvane, Cyncoed
- January 17: St Fagans, Fairwater, Ely, Caerau
- January 18: Canton, Riverside, Grangetown
- January 19: Plasnewydd, Adamsdown, Splott, Butetown
- January 20: Pontprennau, Pentwyn, Penylan
