Horse racing fans will be licking their lips this festive period as the Christmas Hurdle – a race that’s been a bit one-sided in recent seasons – looks all set up to be one of the contests of the season so far. With 2m hurdle ‘big guns’ Sir Gino, Lossiemouth and last year’s winner Constitution Hill all still intended Christmas Hurdle runners.

Is Lossiemouth The One To Beat In 2024 Christmas Hurdle?
The best horse racing betting sites in the UK are suggesting that the Willie Mullins-trained Lossiemouth is the one to beat – making her the slight favourite in the market.
This super-talented mare will head into the race having lost just one of her 10 career starts and looked as good as ever when winning the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the start of the month (watch below). She slammed the 2024 Stayers’ Hurdle winner Teahupoo in that race.
She’ll be looking to give owner Rich Ricci and trainer Willie Mullins their third Christmas Hurdle win – having won the pot twice with Faugheen in 2014 and 2015.
Lossiemouth will also get the handy mares’ allowance from the others in the race – with many feeling this 7lb weight pull with be the difference.

Constitution Hill Makes Long-Awaited Return In 2024 Christmas Hurdle
Just behind Lossiemouth in the market with the best betting sites in the UK is the winner of the last two Christmas Hurdles – Constitution Hill.
However, this Nicky Henderson-trained 7 year-old has not been since in a race since – having many injury issues that ruled him out for the bulk of 2024 – including his Champion Hurdle defence at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
A recent racecourse gallop with stablemate Sir Gino, who also an intended Christmas Hurdle runner, didn’t go to plan and his return run in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle was put on hold.
The reports from the Seven Barrows camp are that Constitution Hill is back to his best at home and horse racing lovers are delighted that he’ll finally be back on the track.
Sir Gino Also Heads To Kempton With a Massive Chance After Impressive Newcastle Win
Sir Gino, who is also trained by Nicky Henderson, will be the third ‘big gun’ two mile hurdler to be a 2024 Christmas Hurdle runner – and will certainly have his horse racing backers too.
He bolted up in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle after a season over fences was put on hold.
By all accounts this unbeaten 4 year-old, who is 5-from-5 over hurdles, had been schooling very well over the bigger obstacles but with stablemate Constitution Hill missing the Fighting Fifth connections have decided (for now) to keep him over hurdles.
All-in-all, there are three big reputations on the line at Kempton on Boxing Day – and cases can certainly be made for them all.
However, note that Sir Gino is also entered in the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase (1:55pm) at Kempton on Friday (27th) – which does look his preferred target.
Burdett Road Also An Intended Kempton Runner
If Sir Gino, Lossiemouth and Constitution Hill weren’t enough Christmas Hurdle also has further spice with the Greatwood Hurdle winner Burdett Road is another of the intended Christmas Hurdle runners.
This James Owen-trained 4 year-old will (like Sir Gino) be looking to become the youngest winner of the race since Kerawi in 1997 and since 1969 only Kribensis in 1988 have won the race that young.
