Disney Plus
Disney Plus remains our favourite video streaming service for 2024, and for good reason. In terms of pure quality and variety, it’s unsurpassed, and while Netflix might offer new films more regularly, the House of Mouse is where you want to be if you prioritise quality over quantity. Boasting The Bear, Shōgun, The Simpsons, Bluey, What We Do in the Shadows and Only Murders in the Building, plus practically every Marvel and Star Wars property ever made (and a huge back catalogue of Fox shows, like The X Files), you could be watching until 2026 and not run out of stellar content.
A standard card lets you gift 12 months of Disney Plus for the price of 10, granting a year-long premium subscription for £129. Worth it for Bluey alone.
Qobuz
Think you know Qobuz? Think again. The French music streaming service has always been a rather niche proposition compared with the likes of Tidal, Apple Music and Amazon Music, but boy has it improved over the years. We dubbed it ‘the best music streaming service for audiophiles’ in our updated five-star review for 2024, praising the sound quality, the strength of its high-res catalogue and download store, and the sheer effort that goes into the platform’s editorial curation. Many hi-fi products also natively support Qobuz alongside Tidal, giving users plenty of choice if they want to stream in high quality.
To see what the fuss it about, you can trial Qobuz or offer it as a present in the form of gift cards. You can give a Studio subscription, which offers over 100 million tracks and streaming in hi-res quality (24-bit up to 192kHz) for either three, six or 12 months at £39, £78 and £130 respectively. Gift cards for the download store (which also has DSD tracks) are also available.

Nintendo
It’s been a stressful year, so what better way to forget about the turbulence of 2024 than by seeking virtual shelter with one of the most popular consoles ever made? The Nintendo Switch remains the third highest-selling console of all time by most counts, made legendary for its quality, portability and the inclusion of mammoth franchises such as Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo gift cards can be used to buy games and other content for the Switch, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS consoles, available in prices ranging from £15 to £100.
Bandcamp
Bandcamp has become one of the team's favourite places to browse and buy music. The online community and music store is terrific for discovering and browsing music (you can drill down to some very specific genres), but its biggest draw is that you can support artists directly. About 82% of what you pay goes directly to the artist or record label; the catalogue is made up primarily of independent artists or those on indie record labels, and you can buy music either as downloads, vinyl, CDs or even cassettes. Many artists release tracks for as little as $1/£1 or let you choose your amount, making it flexible for fans to buy music and support artists directly.
You can buy digital gift cards in £10, £20, £50 and £100 amounts.
Folio Society
We've flagged The Folio Society already above, but did you know they also do gift cards? Amounts range from £25 to £200, letting the recipient choose whichever exquisite special edition they fancy, taking the agonising decision of whether to go for a Tolkien collection, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy or a Marvel Silver Age Comics collaboration out of your hands. The Folio editions are always gorgeously illustrated and bound – and will make the bookworm in your life will be very happy.
The Criterion Collection
If someone you know is a huge film buff, preferring cult classics and contemporary indies, or collections that are famed for their masterful digital restorations in Blu-ray or 4K, then they deserve to mine the libraries of the Criterion Collection. There are some beautiful editions here (like the Godzilla boxset listed above) along with titles such as Guillermo del Toro's Cronos, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and the Coen brothers' No Country For Old Men that are packed with extra features, interviews and more. Gift cards come in $25 to $250 options.
