With all the excitement around Christmas, sometimes getting everyone out the house for a while is needed - whether you join them or not.
Here in Glasgow there's plenty to do during the festive period, and many of them will be open on Christmas Eve. From treasure hunts around the city to rides and thrills at the Irn-Bru Carnival, there's no need for boredom.

Christmas Treasure Hunt
Take the whole family out on a Christmas adventure through the streets of Glasgow, solving puzzles and learning stories as you go.
Helping Santa on his ‘special mission’, you’ll visit new and old places around the town - on a treasure hunt that can be enjoyed at any time during the holidays. You’ll be guided by an app which can be downloaded on your mobile phone, which can be paused and resumed at any time.

Big Toy Giveaway
Limited tickets are left, though Go Wild Soft Play is holding two sessions on Christmas Eve with toy giveaways, soft play and a meal.
Perfect for tiring out the kids ahead of an early night, each child will get two hours of soft play access, a kids meal and drink, and stage entertainment. Thousands of pounds worth of toys are set to be given away, with tickets priced at £14.95 for each child.

Clyde Valley Family Park
A great day out for all, Clyde Valley Family Park offers crazy gold, animal feeding, trampolines, train safari and more.
Tickets must be booked in advance, with the final day of the Christmas experience held on Christmas Eve. The festive offerings include joining Santa for a sing-along under the tree, a gift for every child from the elves, hanging a star with a Christmas wish and old fashioned carnival style games.
All Christmas extras are included in your normal ticket price on the festive dates, with children under 2-years-old getting in for free.

Family Fun Run
Held at Overtoun Park in Rutherglen, a festive family fun run is being held for all the family.
Starting at 10am, runners will take on a 2km route around the park with no entry free, Donations are being taken for various charities, with Santa hats encouraged.
A food donation area will also be accepting donations for the Rutherglen and Cambuslang foodbank.

George Square Christmas Market
Folks have been enjoying a trip on the big wheel or a skate round the ice rink at George Square since it opened on December 1.
This Christmas Eve, the market will be open until 8pm - with the last skating session kicking off at 7pm. They’ll be closed on Christmas Day, before returning as normal on Boxing Day.

Barras Christmas Market
A tradition here in Glasgow, the Barras market will be open until midnight on Christmas Eve.
This year, a post box will be open for kids to send their letter to Santa as well as food and drink stalls - with the usual offerings also on display.

Irn Bru Carnival
Opening up on December 23, the Irn-Bru Carnival will be open from midday until 9pm on Christmas Eve.
Fun for all the family, all rides cost the same aside from the Starflyer - and can be purchased online ahead of your visit or at the carnival.

St Enoch Christmas Market
Much like George Square, St Enoch market will be open from 10am until 8pm on Christmas Eve.
With a variety of rides for thrill seekers, and others for the kids, there’s plenty to do to fill an afternoon. After working up an appetite, food stalls such as the giant Yorkshire pudding stand are there to serve.
