But the new UK Government Tier 4 guidelines mean shoppers will need to plan their last-minute trips carefully to avoid disappointment.

Asda
Asda will be closing early on Christmas Eve, with most stores closing at 7pm.
All stores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Tesco
Those who shop at Tesco will pleased to hear that the chain is keeping hundreds of its stores open for 24 hours a day in the run-up to Christmas.
From December 14th until Christmas Eve, 300 branches will be open for 24 hours while the rest of Tesco's stores will be open between 5am and 11pm.

The majority of Aldi stores will be open from 7am to 6pm on Christmas Eve.
All stores will be closed on Christmas Day.
