Christmas dinner pizza with gravy base launched at Scots restaurant

A Christmas dinner - for many - cannot be beaten when it comes to ultimate meals.

But can it be improved or made better?

One Ayrshire restaurant may hold the answer to that one after launching a range of Christmas pizzas.

Pings in Kilmarnock, which opened in October, specialises in pizza and wings, and they've added a new festive menu that runs up until Christmas Eve.

The Winner Winner Christmas Dinner pizza is topped with roast chicken, pork, sage and onion stuffing, guanciale (Italian cured meat), roast potatoes and a chicken gravy base.

Cran-you Believe It features a cranberry base, roast potatoes, mushroom and veganarella (vegan mozarella).

And Abso-beefly is topped with shoulder of beef and sits atop a rich onion and black pudding gravy.

Festive sides include Christmas wings that are dusted in rosemary seasalt and cranberry sauce. While diners can also get their mitts on salt and chilli pigs in blankets and breaded brie with spiced marmalade.

Desserts have been given a makeover too with gingerbread pizzuros - Pings' house special dessert served with raspberry cause and gingerbread icing. While a chocolate orange calzone and black forest tiramisu completes the festive menu.

Pings is co-owned by chef Mario Martinelli and American Munchies founder Jordan Yates.

Ahead of opening a few months ago Mario told Ayrshire Live that he was so determined to make best pizza this side of Glasgow or die trying.

"This is my dream," Mario said in October. "I've always wanted to try do something on my own and it's more like an investment in the future for myself.

"This is me trying to build myself from nothing and create a future for myself, my family and everyone else involved. And I want to be a good employer of people too."
