This year Christmas Day falls on a Sunday meaning the bank holiday for 2022 will change.
This is because if a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a substitute day is instead used which normally takes place on the following Monday.
However your employer doesn’t have to give you paid leave on bank or public holiday and it may affect how and when your benefits are paid.

This year, the Christmas Day bank holiday will be observed on December 27 whilst the New Year's Day bank holiday will be held on January 1 rather than the 2nd.
It's important to note Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are not bank holidays.
