Christmas bin collection dates for Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Sandiacre and other places in Erewash

Bin collection dates over the festive period have been announced for one part of Derbyshire. Erewash Borough Council has released details of what those who live in towns such as Long Eaton and Ilkeston can expect over the coming months.

According to Nottinghamshire Live, those who normally have bin collections on a Monday can expect the black, blue or brown bin to be emptied on Friday, December 23, instead of Monday, December 26.

Bins that would have normally been collected on Tuesday, December 27, will now be collected a day later, on Wednesday, December 28. Collections that should have taken place on Monday, January 2, 2023 will be collected on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, due to the Bank Holiday Monday.

Bulky waste and white goods waste will have a final collection date of Wednesday, December 21, 2022. The collections will start again on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Trade waste from essential services such as food premises will have a collection between Wednesday 28 and Friday, December 30. Other trade waste will not be collected during Christmas week and customers will be credited.

The same applies for residents who will not have a collection on Monday, January 2, 2023, due to the Bank Holiday. Clinical waste that would normally be collected on Monday, December 26, will instead be collected on Wednesday, December 28.

Waste that would be collected on Tuesday, December 27, will instead be collected on Thursday, December 29. Waste that would be collected on Monday, January 2, 2023 will instead be collected on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Waste that would be collected on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 will instead be collected on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Councillor Garry Hickton, Lead Member for Environment at Erewash Borough Council, says: “As always, we have changed the waste collection schedule over the Christmas period to suit Erewash residents and give hardworking staff a break over the festive season.

"Disruption to collections has been kept to a minimum with all waste collections returning to normal by early January 2023.”
