Christine McGuinness' marriage to Paddy on rocks after 'very tough time of late'

Paddy McGuinness and wife Christine McGuinness ' 11-year marriage is on the rocks.

Christine has told friends that they were "trying to work through various issues," with one source saying: "It's been a very tough time of late."

Speculation had been growing that all was not well between the pair, who have three children.

They recently went on separate holidays with Top Gear host Paddy, 48, having jetted to Portugal with his mates, while Christine, 34, flew out on a girls' trip to Croatia.

They were also pictured looking glum last week.

Christine appeared to address the rumours with a message on social media on Wednesday. She said "Regarding the press... There is only one thing I want to make clear right now... I didn't put us in this situation."

The Real Housewives star also shared a quote that read: "This year I met the most broken version of me, but also the strongest." She also shared a second quote, which said: "Talk about trust before you talk about love."

Publicly, Christine has laughed off claims her marriage is in trouble but admitted things had been "difficult".

She said this week: "We’re really good, honestly. We have had difficult times but when I look back at our marriage and see where we are now, I think, 'Wow, you know, we've done all right!'"

Friends say the situation is different behind the scenes. The pal said: "The problems are very much current."

The couple met 14 years ago and share twins Penelope and Leo, nine, and six-year-old Felicity.

Christine has opened up in the past about marriage problems.

She told in her book A Beautiful Nightmare how she was left feeling "physically sick" when she saw images of her husband holding hands with All Saints' Nicole Appleton in 2018.

She said: "I ran to the toilet to vomit. Still to this day I can remember that absolutely awful pit-of-your-stomach feeling...It was a bit of a heartbroken moment."

Christine previously wrote about their relationship in her book (Instagram)

She added: “My phone started blowing up. I had loads of messages from people saying, 'I hope you sort it out'. 'Leave him,' others told me. Suddenly everyone had an opinion on my marriage, and I didn’t know what was going on myself."

Christine later said they no longer discussed the snaps.

She added: "We just got on with married life. I'm glad we did, his bond with the children is so much better than it ever was then. Instead of staying over in London when filming, he'll drive through the night back."
