Christine McGuinness lifts lid on Paddy's reaction to The Games transformation

Christine McGuinness has opened up about how her and husband Paddy’s lives have “completely changed” as she has trained for ITV ’s new reality show The Games.

The 34-year-old model is taking part in the ITV show airing this evening and hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff.

ITV ’s new reality sports show The Games will see 12 celebrities go head-to-head in a series of challenges, across a week of live shows.

Appearing on This Morning on Monday morning, Christine told hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes about life at home during the intense training programme for the ITV show.

Phillip asked Christine: “How’s Paddy with this?” He then joked: “Obviously Paddy as we know is a chiselled Adonis, so how does he feel about you being there?”

Christine replied saying Paddy is “really happy”, saying: “He’s had loads of time off work. He’s at home with the kids. He’ll be watching.”

She added: “It’s just mad how our lives have changed. Usually it’s me there and he’s away working, but it’s been brilliant. It’s been good for all of us as a family.

“It shows growth in me and the children how we’re dealing with change now and we’re enjoying it. I’ve loved it. This has been like a massive holiday for me.”

The contestants taking part alongside Christine include Love Island alum Olivia Attwood, influencer Phoenix Brown, ex-Strictly pro and leading man Kevin Clifton, pop star Max George, song writer Chelcee Grimes and Harry Potter actor Josh Herdman.

Joining them are Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, newsreader Lucrezia Millarini, musician and Love Island star Wes Nelson, Emmerdale actor Rebecca Sarker and actor Ryan Thomas.

Love Island's Chloe Burrows and TV & Radio host Will Njobvu act as reserves, ready to step in should the need arise.

The celebs will be taking part to compete against each other in a range of challenges including track events and in the swimming pool on the new ITV series.

Cameras will show the team members being trained and coached by professionals and then competing against each other in the hopes of bagging medals.

ITV announced: “The six male and six female competitors will battle it out in the athletics arena, the swimming pool, gymnasium and velodrome.

“Each will put their sporting prowess to the test in events from the 100-meter sprint to diving, racking up points on the medals table.

“As well as live coverage of the events, each episode will feature the celebrities' preparation as they’re taught the sports from scratch by some of the UK’s top coaches.

“Following their gruelling training programme leading up to the competition, as they aim to reach their peak physical condition.

“As the leader board takes shape with each night, the series will culminate in an exhilarating final showdown in which one male champion and one female champion will be crowned.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
