Christine McGuinness breaks down during The Games training as she battles anxiety

Christine McGuinness broke down during training for The Games as she opened up about her fears for the show.

The reality star who was diagnosed with autism last year said that she was more scared about facing the crowds than the sporting challenges.

The mum-of-three burst into tears as she and the other women practiced the hurdles ahead of a week of live ITV shows.

Christine, 34, told presenter Alex Scott that she was worried she was going to "freeze up".

She said: "Physically I'm fine and I want to do it, it's purely mentally."

"I was diagnosed with autism last year. I will stay where I'm comfortable because of that.

"I'm more scared of the stadium than I am of the sport," she explained.

"I want to give it my best shot but I'm worried I'll freeze and say I'm not doing it. I'm really hoping that doesn't happen. I've just got that one shot to try and get it right."

"The thought of the crowds, the people and the gun. I don't actually know how I'm going to do it".

She walked away from the camera to compose herself, reassuring the crew that she'll return and just needed a minute.

The new programme is fronted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff and follows celebrities as they go head to head in various athletic challenges.

Christine is joined by The Wanted's Max George, basketball player Phoenix Gulzar-Brown, Emmerdale's Rebecca Sarker, Love Island's Wes Nelson, footballer Chelcee Grimes, Strictly's Kevin Clifton, Love Island's Olivia Attwood, Harry Potter's Josh Herdman, Coronation Street's Colson Smith and newsreader Lucrezia Millarini.

Before she competed in the diving the commentator revealed that she hadn't practiced for three weeks due to her fear of heights and battle with anxiety.

But the model did her teammate proud and plunged into the pool as the crowd cheered.

Christine is married to Paddy McGuinness and have three children together; eight-year-old twins Penelope and Leo and six-year-old Felicity.

She appeared in a BBC documentary Our Family and Autism, which followed her and Paddy over months as they learned more about the condition that affects all three of her children.

It was during the filming that she discovered that she also had autism.

She told Manchester Evening News in November last year: "When I got the diagnosis, I can honestly say it was such a huge relief.

"Just to know there was a reason why I felt this way and why I struggled with certain things. It’s really helped me, my husband to understand autism a lot more, it’s helped me when it comes to work, and in everyday life."
