Christine McGuinness has admitted she is frightened to eat out with her eight-year-old son because of his nut allergy.
The youngster's condition means that parents Christine, 33, and presenter Paddy McGuinness, 48, have to carry two EpiPens with them at all times in case of an emergency.
Leo and his twin sister Penelope both have autism, Christine admits she suffers from mum guilt as she struggles to know when to let the kids become more independent.
Paddy and Christine also have six-year-old Felicity together.
Talking about their fear of eating out, Paddy told The Sun : "Our little boy has a nut allergy, with nut allergies - every child is different.
"Some children can’t even go near a nut, and they can’t even use nut oils because of the fumes in the air and everything else, and they get a really bad reaction, whereas other children might have a nut allergy, but can deal with things."
Christine added: "Our son’s nut allergy means we’ve to take two EpiPens everywhere we go, and we’re quite scared about eating out because of that."
The pair have previously opened up about their children's autism and Paddy went on to say that he believes the kids will never be able to leave home.
Describing how lucky he felt they were to have a mum like the model, he added that he was scared of for their future too and a time when their celeb parents are no longer around.
And he admits it made him depressed and needing to seek help through therapy.
The Take Me Out presenter continued: "It chipped away at me, with all of the things you have to do, things you have to deal with as a parent of children with autism. It dawned on me that, that’s it, that’s it for ever. There’s no ‘they’ll get better as the years go on’.
"In that whole haze of clinical depression, if you’d have given me the chance to take autism away from my children, I would have said ‘yeah’ but autism is part of who they are, so why would I want to take away a part of my children which I love?"
He stressed that his thoughts weren't for himself but more so for his children.
He now understands that spending time with them is hugely important after previously thinking he had to constantly work to give them a life in which they were as comfortable as possible.
