Christina Perri says her baby will need surgery after she was hospitalised

Pregnant Christina Perri has updated fans following a recent health scare that saw her hospitalised.

Songstress Christina, 34, revealed on Tuesday that she'd been admitted to the hospital during her third trimester.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, Christina - who suffered a miscarriage in January at 11 weeks pregnant - told her one million followers that her baby will need to undergo a procedure when born.

Christina already shares Carmella - born 2017 - with husband Paul Costabile.

"There's a lot more that we have to be cautious of," she said in the video from her hospital bed, "Baby could come at any moment.

"Basically, there's a complication with the baby's intestines.

"The baby right now is scheduled to have an operation when they arrive. We'll spend some time in the hospital."

Christina added: "We're going to prepare for [the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit] but anything could happen. We're just gonna stay really hopeful.

"I guess the biggest thing is we hope the baby stays inside and can get as big as possible before this big event they have to go through.

"It's just a couple more weeks, so I'm gonna try to take it easy and hope for the best."

Announcing that she was in hospital earlier this week, she told fans: "Hey friends. Well, nothing ever goes as we plan, huh. Baby is having an issue so I'm gonna be here till its time for baby to come out, which might have to be very soon. Which is very early.

"Please send some love from your heart to the little heart beating in me that we all make it through this. I'm grateful for drs and nurses and will do whatever they suggest we do."

In January, she poured her heart out on Instagram after suffering a miscarriage, just days before she planned to share her pregnancy.

"Today I had a miscarriage," she told, "Baby was 11 weeks old. We are shocked & completely heartbroken."

She continued that she wanted to "change the story and stigma around miscarriage."
