Christina Applegate says she has 'gained 40 pounds' and can 'no longer walk without a cane' following her shock multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
The Dead to Me star, 50, admits she's "very aware" of changes to her appearance and mobility after announcing her diagnosis last year.
She says there's been a rapid decline in her physical health and that she is 'never going to accept' her MS in a recent tell-all newspaper interview.
"This is the first time anyone’s going to see me the way I am," she confessed ahead of the final season of the hit-Netflix series Dead to Me.
"I’m never going to accept this," Christina told the New York Post. "I’m pissed."
The actress previously spoke of several years of tingling and numbness, all before the 'extremities grew worse'.
It was while she was on set for the third and final series of the Netflix programme, during the summer of 2021, that she received her diagnosis.
After being told the news that she had the autoimmune disease, which disrupts communication between the brain and body, production was halted.
Speaking of the five-month break, she said: "I needed to process my loss of my life, my loss of that part of me. So I needed that time."
She began sharing her diagnosis with fans a short while after receiving the news, taking to Twitter to reveal all in an update on her health.
"A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS," the Tony nominee, who shares 11-year-old daughter Sadie with husband Martyn LeNoble, tweeted in August 2021.
"It’s been a strange journey," she added. "But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition."
She asked for "privacy" amid her "tough road" ahead, adding: "As we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it."
She remained out of the public eye for three months before mentioning her health on her 50th birthday in another post on Twitter.
"Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS," she Tweeted in November 2021. "It’s been a hard one."
"Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try."
Only a few days ago, she shared a picture showing off her walking canes, explaining to followers that this was her 'new normal'.
She Tweeted last Thursday: "I have a very important ceremony coming up.
"This will be my first time out since diagnosed with MS. Walking sticks are now part of my new normal. Stay tuned to see which ones make the cut for a week of stuff."
