Hearts have “enquired” about a loan move for Aberdeen striker Christian Ramirez but the Pittodrie side are reluctant to let the USA international join one of their main Scottish Premiership rivals.
Ramirez made a storming start to his Pittodrie career after joining from MLS side Houston Dynamo 12 months ago when former boss Stephen Glass used his knowledge of the American market to sign the 31-year-old.
However, he has dropped down the pecking order with the capture of North Macedonian Bojan Miovski from MTK Budapest. Jim Goodwin hinted strongly on Tuesday night he could leave in this window. The Jambos are looking to take advantage of the fact Ramirez only made one league appearance this season by taking him Tynecastle on loan, according to the Edinburgh Evening News and are also have said to have made a move for Celtic's Mikey Johnston – but he is set to head to Portugal with Vitoria Guimaraes.
It’s believed Pittodrie chiefs would “want Ramirez’s vast salary covered as much as possible before agreeing any loan move”. Hearts will look to make the deal happen and have until midnight to make it happen with David Bates another who could head for the Pittodrie exit.
Dons boss Goodiwn said of the duo: “For the time being they’re contracted to the club. Of course, both of them are disappointed not to be involved and want to play more regularly but there are players in my opinion who are ahead of both of them at the moment.”
