Christian Pulisic stance on Chelsea transfer revealed as $5.4m decision made

Christian Pulisic is said to be open to a move to AC Milan and a potential pay cut that could follow a Chelsea exit.

The United States of America international looks almost certain to be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after a tough season in London. Pulisic has struggled to hit the heights expected of him since a 2019 move from Borussia Dortmund for around £58million ($73million).

He did, though, play a key role en route to the 2021 Champions League triumph and has had to deal with the revolving door of managers at the Blues. The 24 year-old, according to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport via SempreMilan, would be 'happy' to move to Milan with Chelsea reportedly setting their asking price for the player at £21million ($27million).

He is also said to be content with reducing his salary from his current $5.4million pay packet each season. Pulisic set tongues wagging when he uploaded a picture of himself from a USMNT training session with red and black circle emojis to the social media platform Instagram.

Milan fans were convinced that Pulisic was sending them a subliminal message and bombarded his Instagram post with comments. Meanwhile the player was asked about his future on international duty, with his contract at Chelsea entering its final 12 months come the end of June.

"Right now my focus is obviously here with the national team," Pulisic said. "I'm just excited to get back playing and just enjoy myself and do what I love to do out on the field.

"And from there, this summer, we're obviously going to have to see what happens." Pulisic made 30 appearances in all competitions last season but only contributed to three goals.

He managed just 31 Premier League minutes in the final eight matches of the season.
