Christian Pulisic makes exciting Chelsea prediction amid Real Madrid draw

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has sent a warning out to the rest of the teams left in the Champions League after the Blues learnt their quarter-final fate.

The west Londoners confirmed their place in the final eight earlier this month with a 2-1 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund. Second-leg goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz meant Graham Potter's side overcame the odds to knock the Bundesliga outfit out.

Victory in the Champions League has coincided with Chelsea’s turnaround in form throughout the last two weeks. The win over Dortmund was one of three straight consecutive victories that has lifted the pressure off Potter's shoulders.

The draw for the quarter-final and semi-final took place on Friday, presenting Chelsea's route to the final in Istanbul on Saturday, June 10. Chelsea will face reigning champions Real Madrid in the last eight - with the second leg taking place at Stamford Bridge - with a possible meeting with Bayern Munich or Manchester City in the semi-final to follow.

Following the draw, bookmakers have marked Chelsea as seventh favourites to lift the grand prize at the end of the season - with Man City, Bayern and Madrid all within the top four favourites.

And despite the odds stacking up against Chelsea, Pulisic has sent a warning out to the remaining sides in the competition. "I wouldn't want to play us in the Champions League, I'll say that much," he told ESPN.

"We were in a similar situation as far as the last time we won the Champions League. Half-way through the year, struggling in the league and a lot of people counting out us. Look what happened then. Has it been easy in recent weeks? No but I'm proud of the way the team has overcome it and the last week that we've had, getting three wins in a row.

"[I'm] feeling a lot of confidence now and it's crazy how fast things can change in football, it's a snap of a finger. All of a sudden you start to feel that confidence - especially in a team with a lot of new players - you start to feel each other out more. The team all of a sudden looks like a dangerous team to play against.

"Is it going to be easy? No. Are we going to have big fights, tough battles and big teams that we're going to play against to get there? 100% but we're ready for it and we're excited by the challenge."

Chelsea's record against Real is a rather impressive one. In the seven meetings, the Blues have won four and only faced defeat once - last season's 3-1 quarter-final loss in London.

Under Thomas Tuchel, the west Londoners surpassed Madrid in the semi-finals before defeating Manchester City in the final before losing 5-4 on aggregate last season.
