Christian Pulisic makes Chelsea vs Liverpool FA Cup final prediction with Wembley place booked

Christian Pulisic is pleased to once again reach a final at Wembley at Chelsea and is especially pleased to see the opposition is Liverpool as the competition reaches it peak. Second-half goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount secured Chelsea's passage to the finale of the FA Cup for the third time in as many seasons, with Jurgen Klopp's side awaiting them after a 3-2 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

It will be the second time the teams have faced off at Wembley this campaign after Liverpool's success in the Carabao Cup. Kepa Arrizabalaga's missed penalty separated the sides following 120 minutes of football on that occasion.

While Pulisic had to settle for a place on the bench against Crystal Palace, he has started in Chelsea's last two matches against the Reds. The USA international showed his threat in January as his goal helped Thomas Tuchel's men recover from a two-goal deficit to earn a draw at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old is looking forward to the challenge and expecting another tight match.

He said: "I think that will be good, we definitely want to play against them again and it will be a really good match, and we’re looking forward already to the challenge. And hopefully we can get on the better side of them."

He added there was little between the teams. "We’re hoping we can come out on top. It’s not going to be easy, it’s probably going to be another one of those games, and hopefully we can just get the edge on them," he said.

It is the third year in a row that Chelsea have reached the FA Cup final, having lost to Arsenal and Leicester City the past two years, while the Blues have been defeated on consecutive finals at Wembley under Tuchel. Pulisic accepted there was some unfinished business at the venue.

Pulisic said: "We want to get well-prepared. Obviously we’ve got other games leading up to that. But we want to be 100% ready to go when the final comes around, and I’m going to do my best to play a part in that and hopefully help us win."

The FA Cup provides Chelsea with their final opportunity to land silverware this season. While the west London side have been just off the pace in the Premier League, they have already earned the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in addition to reaching two domestic finals. With nine matches now remaining across all competitions, Pulisic simply wants to finish the season well, both as a club and individually.

"I think we’re happy with where we’re at right now, we’ve got something left to play for this season, and we’re looking forward to finishing strong. I want to play as much as I can, and that’s my goal," said the 23-year-old.

Given the forward's versatility across the side, in what position would he prefer to operate in? He added: "I’m comfortable in a lot of different positions, obviously mainly the attacking positions and the left side I’m most comfortable, but I feel like I can play a lot of different positions."
