Christian Pulisic discusses Chelsea future amid surprise Man Utd transfer link

Christian Pulisic admits "anything can happen" amid doubt over his Chelsea future and shock links with Manchester United.

The American moved to Stamford Bridge in 2019 from Borussia Dortmund but has been unable to nail down a regular spot. Already, he has worked under three different managers, with Graham Potter the latest boss in the Stamford Bridge dugout. Pulisic's lack of consistent minutes has led to talk of a move away.

The Blues are blessed with a host of attacking options and domestic rivals United are credited with interest in the winger. Erik ten Hag is still in the process of putting his stamp on the squad at Old Trafford and is light in the final third after Cristiano Ronaldo's exit.

Pulisic's quality has never been in doubt but a lack of game time, coupled with injuries, has prevented him showing it on a weekly basis. The 24-year-old is back in London after his time at the World Cup with United States and remains focused on all things Chelsea, but accepts that the landscape can change very quickly.

Pulisic told the Indirect Podcast : "I mean, right now, I’m absolutely back at Chelsea and focused and ready to finish the season. But you know how things work in football; things change quickly and anything can happen. At the moment, I am just pushing myself in training and working at Chelsea because that’s where I am right now."

United have the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga as options in attack. Alejandro Garnacho is also emerging as an exciting talent, but the club may seek a fresh injection of quality in the New Year, with Cody Gakpo also on their radar.

Will Pulisic leave Chelsea in January? Let us know in the comments below!

Potter is the man calling the shots in west London and has only started Pulisic in two of the eight games for which he's been in charge. The former Brighton boss confessed that players to have to "suffer" at times in their careers but spoke positively about the American.

Potter said previously: "I think players go through periods of their careers where they have to suffer a little bit for whatever reason and don't get their game time that they would like and it's part of the job, it's part of the sign-up to being a Premier League player. It's not straightforward to be a regular in a top-four team.

"I can only comment on him (Pulisic) in terms of how he's been with me. Really positive, he's an intelligent guy, articulate, knows how to express himself. My conversation with him has been good and positive. I'm not going to judge anybody on what has happened in the past, I'm going to make my own mind up. Football hopefully decides."
