Amongst the players firmly in the shop window at the World Cup, Christian Pulisic was one. The American winger had a chance to prove to potential suitors how good he could be, and that he is worth the perceived risk of signing him.
At 24, Pulisic is no longer the new kid on the block and is an established player, but his time at Chelsea has left him largely stationary and no longer in the same world class bracket that he was initially thought of. Such was his frustration and disappointment at the way things had gone under Thomas Tuchel, the attacker was expected to leave over the summer.
Pulisic was offered to Juventus in a swap deal for Matthijs de Ligt and became a player waiting to head for the exit door. If the Blues had got another forward in then he would have been in the mix to be the next to leave, such was the situation.

Things haven't changed too much under Graham Potter. Minutes have been scarce and he is still likely to see his future laying elsewhere in the short-term. Here, football.london brings you up to speed with the latest updates on Pulisic.
Newcastle in for January move
The Mirror write that long-term admirers Newcastle are looking to do a deal sooner rather than later to undercut some of the competition for his signature in 2023.
The Magpies were one of the sides after him in the summer but fell short of making a bid, with £40million expected to be enough to sign him. Other options remain open though, with Manchester United keen on a loan move for the attacker, and Arsenal also posing as a possible destination for a temporary deal.
Coman swap
Pulisic has been linked in a surprise swap deal with Bayern Munich. He has previously spent time in Bundesliga, making his name as a Borussia Dortmund star, and could pose as an attractive player for European clubs due to his Champions League experience.
Kingsley Coman is a player that is also used to moving around, having spent time at Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, and had been linked with a shock move to England with Pulisic going the other way.
SportBild reporter Christian Falk rubbished this though, saying that Bayern had compared the move to “swapping a Ferrari for a Fiat."
World Cup recap
Pulisic was USA's star player heading into the World Cup but had the captaincy taken from him on the eve of the tournament, with Leeds' Tyler Adams the new skipper. Pulisic still impressed though, grabbing a goal and an assist in Qatar as his team progressed through the group but fell short in the first knockout round.
He did his transfer stance no harm with some impressive moves throughout the competition and alllowed himself to enjoy a period of rest before returning to London, going to watch some NBA action too.
