Christian Pulisic’s father, Mark Pulisic, appears to have taken a dig at Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in a recent cryptic tweet, potentially throwing his future at the club into doubt. The USMNT international has struggled to become a consistent feature in the first-team since joining the Blues.
The 23-year-old has made 19 Premier League appearances this season, scoring five and assisting once in that time. It was only just over one month ago that Tuchel was full of praise for the forward, when he hit a vein of goal-scoring form.
He said to the official Chelsea website: “Christian (Pulisic) was in the same situation as Kai (Havertz). Both of them took the responsibility for the turnaround, so it is their responsibility, and they deserve the credit. They did amazingly and you can see it on the pitch.”

Though his last-minute goal against West Ham last weekend was crucial in snatching all three points, Pulisic has been a squad player for the most part since. Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are the three players that have been preferred as of late.
It isn’t ideal for the American, especially given the few months coming up for him. Not only does he need game time to fulfil his potential, but as the captain of his national team, the forward will be hoping he is in top condition to lead his country out at the Qatar World Cup later this year.
His struggles have only been voiced louder by his father, Mark, who took to Twitter after the defeat to Everton on Sunday. The cryptic message, which has since been deleted, appeared to throw his future into doubt, as well as potentially taking a dig at manager Tuchel.
He said: “The sad thing is he [Pulisic] loves this club, teammates, and London.… puts his heart and soul into being a pro. Onwards and upwards my boy…big 6 months ahead..”
What this means for Pulisic remains to be seen, especially with a huge summer transfer window and the World Cup on the horizon. However, the more immediate challenge will be playing a part in the Blues qualifying for next year’s Champions League.
