Christian Norgaard believes Brentford deserve more respect for results against top teams after Arsenal draw

Brentford captain Christian Norgaard believes his side do not get the credit they deserve for their brilliant record against the Premier League’s elite.

A 1-1 draw at Arsenal extended their unbeaten run in the top flight to 10 matches and means they have now taken points off all the ‘Big Six’ sides this season.

Brentford have beaten Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool, while they have held Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea to draws.

Manager Thomas Frank has described their form as “absolutely insane”, and the Bees are up to eighth and in the mix for Europe.

But Norgaard feels they do not always get the plaudits their most impressive results deserve.

“I often see that when we win against the big teams, it’s the big teams who are disappointed and we maybe haven’t got the credit,” he said.

“We’ve shown we’re very difficult to play against and we look very comfortable in that low block which we often tend to go to against the bigger teams. The results speak for themselves. It’s been very impressive so far.”

Speaking about their unbeaten run, which stretches back to October, Norgaard said: “It’s easier to play with no fear when things are going for you.

“We’re not playing with the same pressure as other teams. That is an advantage for us, and a confidence boost. Even going into Arsenal away, we believed we could get something out of it.”

Norgaard praised Toney, who had missed two golden opportunities before his goal. He said: “His technical ability is really good. His finishing ability is very good. But the main thing for me is his character.

“He’s such a presence for us up there. He must be so annoying to play against for defenders.”
