Christian Horner has revealed he was initially snubbed by wife Geri, after the Red Bull boss met the Spice Girls star for the very first time at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Geri has been a mainstay alongside Christian during his time working in the Formula 1 paddock, but it has not always been plain sailing for the 49-year-old. The famous couple initially met back in 2009 thanks to the Spice Girl's good friendship with former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.
The pair confirmed their engagement in November 2014, and then tied the knot six months later, marrying in a lavish ceremony in May 2015.
Recently opening up on his relationship, and their awkward first meeting he told the Telegraph: "She was a guest of Bernie Ecclestone's in Monaco one year and came down the pit lane.
"I remember [McLaren boss] Ron Dennis was standing next to me and Eddie Jordan was there as well. Anyway, she gave Ron a kiss on the cheek, and she gave Eddie a kiss on the cheek. So I thought, 'OK, I'm on for a kiss on the cheek here!'
"I went to give her one and she shoved her hand out at me!" Geri was also present in the interview and the pair saw the funny side of the snub. Following the initial meet up, the pair met for a second time at a clay pigeon shooting day out at Highclere Castle.
However things once again did not pan out perfectly for Horner, with Geri quick to remind her husband that he favoured Red Bull driver Sebastien Vettel over his team-mate Mark Webber. Claiming she has never let the Red Bull boss live it down, Geri said: "I still call him out sometimes. As any wife does."
Since though it has all gone to plan, with Horner loved up with his Spice Girls wife. Opening up further, he said: "You know, life works in mysterious ways. I didn't marry Geri because she's a Spice Girl. I married her because I fell in love with her. It will be 10 years this time next year and we've been happily married for seven."
