Christian Horner caught making X-rated Lewis Hamilton remark in Drive to Survive scene

Red Bull chief Christian Horner 's relationship with Mercedes boiled over last year as the two teams tussled for world glory.

And the constructors' fractious relationship was clear for all to see in a clip from the new series of Netflix ’s Drive to Survive, a program which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the drivers and races during the season.

The intense rivalry between Red Bull and Mercedes provided some of the biggest and most controversial incidents not just in F1 but world sport, as tensions reached boiling point last year.

The fiery 48-year-old is never one to hold back and he certainly made his feelings known during one of the opening scenes captured in the hit program.

After Hamilton had won a record-equalling seventh F1 world title in 2020, he was on the podium after victory in Abu Dhabi in December of the same year.

While there he was asked whether there was a limit to what he could achieve in F1.

“I feel like I’m just getting started”, replied an elated Hamilton after making history.

Horner, ho watched on, is then caught muttering under his breath about Hamilton and fumed: “I wish he’d shut the f*** up.”

The Red Bull boss then added: “How many times do we have to watch this s***”, as Hamilton hoisted the drivers’ title aloft.

The team boss even slammed his rival Toto Wolff when asked what sets Red Bull apart from other teams.

Horner believes Wolff cares more about the financial aspect of F1 rather than the actual racing.

“What you have to remember about Toto is he inherited something that is already well-oiled. He’s not really had to build anything,” Horner commented.

“He’s much more motivated by the financials of Formula One, rather than the competition.”

Horner would turn the tables on his rivals as Max Verstappen claimed his maiden F1 world title last season, defeating Hamilton in the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi in controversial circumstances.

As 2021's title decider neared its conclusion, Nicolas Latifi crashed and a safety car was brought out.

Race director Michael Masi initially instructed that lapped cars could not overtake the safety car until it left the track

Therefore, there would not have been time for Verstappen to get behind his rival. However, Masi controversially changed his mind, allowing the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen to unlap themselves before ordering the safety car off the track.

Therefore, the 24-year-old could get on the British driver's tail before overtaking him in a one-lap shootout, benefiting from driving on fresher tyres.

There were still more cars that should have been able to unlap themselves, according to the rules.

If these rules had been followed, then the race would likely have finished behind a safety car as it was the final lap, and as Hamilton was in the lead, he would have been crowned champion.

Wolff was raging after the decision was made and despite Mercedes lodging protests after the race, they were rejected by the FIA.

Masi lost his job as result and has been replaced by Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas, who will alternate as race director, while Herbie Blash will be serving as the senior advisor.
