Christian Eriksen reveals what has impressed him most about Erik ten Hag at Manchester United

Christian Eriksen says he has been encouraged by Erik ten Hag’s aggressive front-foot philosophy and the positive forward-thinking he has instilled at Manchester United.

After becoming the Dutchman’s second signing as Reds boss, Eriksen has tallied a club-high six assists this season and netted his first United goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Fulham, also setting up Alejandro Garnacho’s injury-time winner.

He has been hailed by many for his early impact on the side with Rio Ferdinand pleasantly surprised by his influence on the team and Mikael Silvestre branding him as the team’s best player of the season so far.

Eriksen said he has felt welcomed at Old Trafford, adding: “The whole set-up from the club and also the group of players, managers, everyone is really taking good care of all of us who have come in.

“It’s been good, you can feel the vibe is good. The players are getting to see each other on the pitch and off it. I think, in general, I’ve been very happy to be here.”

Eriksen was also full of praise of Ten Hag and his staff, telling in-house media that he has been excited by their playing methods.

He explained: “I think what impressed me most has been the thought of always being on the front foot, always choosing the offensive way into a game, never backing off, and always going full all-out attack and we take it from there.”

The Dane is set to play at the Qatar World Cup, marking an incredible comeback just 18 months after his on-field cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. But before flying off to the Middle East, he reflected on which game he felt the United team had played best in so far, noting the influence fans had in them.

“Luckily there have been a few,” he said. "I think the home games against Liverpool and Arsenal to really get the season properly going from the first two games, when we didn’t do so well.

“I think one of those would be the best performances from this season. Of course, when you play big opponents, the stadium gets a bit louder every time we can score.

“I think we felt that and we needed that push from the beginning we had. I think those two games but, in general, it’s been really good with the fans.”
