Christian Eriksen returns to starting XI in Manchester United predicted line-up vs Chelsea

After a strong performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, it seems unlikely that there will be many major changes to Erik ten Hag's starting XI. However, one player that could find his way back into the team is Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen missed United's game against Newcastle through illness and was a late substitute against Tottenham. He is still the team's best midfielder on the ball however and he offers a different option to the player who has been covering for him, Fred.

Fred is worse on the ball than Eriksen but he is much more mobile. Against Tottenham, he helped United consistently pressure the opposition and stopped them from building attacks, so Ten Hag could choose to stick with the Brazilian if he feels it would help against Chelsea.

Elsewhere, you'd expect Marcus Rashford to retain his place as United's starting striker. Anthony Martial is injured and Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped from the squad for disciplinary reasons.

Following the logic, Jadon Sancho would be expected to start on the left-hand side providing good support for Rashford up top and Antony will most likely retain his place on the right.

The only other change United fans may see is at left-back. Chelsea have a lot of options going forward so Tyrell Malacia could be preferred to combat this, however since he has returned to the squad, Luke Shaw has been exceptional and Ten Hag will likely stick with the defender.

Manchester United predicted XI vs Tottenham (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho, Rashford.
