Christian Eriksen 'makes transfer decision' amid Tottenham and Man United links

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen has reportedly decided against staying with Brentford next season.

Eriksen made a sensational return to the Premier League back in January just six months after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020. The talented playmaker decided to sign for the Bees on an initial six-month contract, enjoying a productive few months as he netted one goal and provided a further four assists in just ten starts.

Now, Italian transfer guru Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that the creative maestro is unlikely to sign a new deal with Thomas Frank's side as he is keen to play in the UEFA Champions League next term. One side that can offer him that is former club Spurs, who have been linked with a summer swoop for the 30-year-old in recent times.

football.london understands that the north London club have discussed a return for Eriksen, with his history both at the club and with Conte and the bargain nature of a deal ticking a lot of boxes. Speaking about a potential move in a recent Q&A, Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold revealed that the player is keen to remain in London, something that could indeed strengthen Spurs' chances of landing the former Ajax star.

"As for Eriksen, it's all down to him really and whether he feels loyalty to Brentford for taking that chance on him or that the pull of Spurs, Conte and the Champions League is stronger", said Gold. "There will be other interested parties although I understand he would like to remain in London."

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the Dane but his preference to remain in the English capital plus the fact that the Red Devils will be in the Europa League next season surely weakens the chances of him plying his trade at Old Trafford next term.
