Erik ten Hag is dealing with a number of injury setbacks after a bruising second half in Thursday’s 2-2 Europa League draw with Sevilla.
Lisandro Martinez is expected to miss the rest of the season with a metatarsal injury sustained late on in the contest, while Raphael Varane is set to miss the next few weeks with a knock that forced him off at half time.
Manchester United top scorer Marcus Rashford missed the clash due to a muscle injury and will not feature against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Luke Shaw has been sidelined for the last two games with an unspecified injury but could be available for the visit of Steve Cooper’s side.

Scott McTominay could also be back for the fixture after playing no part against Sevilla. However, Ten Hag may decide to hand Christian Eriksen his first start since suffering an ankle injury in January, with the Dane having come on as a substitute in the past two matches. And Casemiro is set to feature in the Premier League for the first time in a month after serving a four-match domestic ban for his red card against Southampton.
It means the line-up will look a little different. Bruno Fernandes could occupy to his attacking midfield role behind Anthony Martial, who himself made his first start since January 14 against Sevilla. Antony and Jadon Sancho look set to play wide with Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho still sidelined.
By necessity the centre back pairing will likely be Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof while Shaw may not be risked from the start meaning Tyrell Malacia at left-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka now seems the preferred right-back while David De Gea will start in goal.
Predicted XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Malaica; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Martial, Sancho.
