Chrissy Teigen has expressed her gratitude towards her friends after they donated blood in honour of her and John Legend’s late son Jack.

On Sunday, Teigen shared a video to Instagram she received from her friend Kimmie Kyees, who explained that she and six of her friends donated blood to replace the blood that the Cravings author was given in the hospital prior to losing Jack at 20 weeks pregnant.

In the video, Kyees and her friends can be seen donating blood at a blood drive on Halloween.

“Ok, I tried writing this four times but the tears were too much. Here we go again, with my heart full of warmth and happiness,” Teigen captioned the clip on Instagram. “My friend @kimmiekyees sent me this with the caption ‘Me and six of my friends donated blood to replace the seven pints you were given in the hospital, in honour of baby Jack. I love you friend.’”

The 34-year-old, who revealed that she and Legend lost Jack in late September despite being hospitalised and receiving numerous blood transfusions, then elaborated on what the celebrity manicurist’s gesture meant to her, writing that she is “overwhelmed by our circle of friends.”

“The love I feel for each and every person in our circle actually makes me ache,” she continued. “@kimmiekyees, I’ve known you for so many years now. You know every story, you hear every life gripe, you’re amazing at what you do but the way you treat my kids and family is cherished always. To do something like this for baby Jack is just… I dunno. Beautiful."

Teigen also touched on why blood donations are “severely down” amid the coronavirus pandemic, before concluding: “Kimmie, I love you. I love this. I am so proud of the people I surround myself and my family with.”

The gesture was also met with support from hundreds of Teigen’s followers, who also expressed their gratitude towards the model’s friends.

“You have an amazing circle. What a beautiful way to honour Jack and help the community,” one person wrote.

Another commented: “So beautiful. Your friends are truly amazing.”

Teigen’s post about the emotional gesture comes a week after she returned to social media with an essay, in which she reflected on the loss of her and Legend’s third child.

“I wrote this because I knew for me I needed to say something before I could move on from this and return back to life, so I truly thank you for allowing me to do so,” the cookbook author wrote. "Jack will always be loved, explained to our kids as existing in the wind and trees and the butterflies they see.

“Thank you so much to every single person who has had us in their thoughts or gone as far as to send us your love and stories. We are so incredibly lucky.”

This week, Teigen also revealed she has honoured the couple’s late son with a new tattoo. Over the weekend, she shared a photo of her and her husband holding hands while having a date night, in which a tattoo of Jack’s name can be seen on her wrist.
