Chrissy Teigen's 'vibrant and fresh' Friendsgiving tablescape puts an unexpected, chic spin on holiday decor

Chrissy teigen.

Gourds, fall leaves, and hand turkeys: traditional Thanksgiving decor sticks to a warm, neutral color palette of red, orange, yellow, and brown. But who says you can't switch it up?

Chrissy Teigen boldly asked this exact question with her choice of non-conventional decor at the recent Friendsgiving dinner for her brand, Cravings. The model held her meal outdoors, surrounded by heaters and Christmas lights, with a table covered with seasonal greenery. Most surprising was the heavy use of lime green in the color scheme including velvet upholstered lime green dining chairs.

Here's what interior designers had to say about Chrissy's Thanksgiving decor.

San Francisco-based Interior designer Soledad Alzaga states: 'Using lime green Thanksgiving decor can add a vibrant and fresh touch to your tablescape. Lime green is a fun and bright color you can mix well with other fall colors like browns, oranges, and gold to maintain a Thanksgiving aesthetic.'

Artem Kropovinsky, NYC-based interior designer and founder of Arsight, adds: 'The lime green chairs in Chrissy Teigen’s Thanksgiving table decor give off a very exciting energy. They add a dash of contemporary vigor to the traditional holiday table decor.' He continues, 'Greenery is adopted to give it a natural feel just like the harvest seasons. It blends well with colorful accents creating a visually enticing table setting.'

In order to recreate the look of a green dining room Thanksgiving in your own home, Soledad says, 'Not everybody has lime green chairs, but you can green cushions or chair pads on the seats to copy this look, and a ribbon or napkin rings to tie the theme together.' She further suggests that you can, 'create a centerpiece with lime green flowers, like mums or green hydrangeas, and add limes and lemons around the table' for a bright and fresh tablescape.

To curate a stunning Thanksgiving table setting, Artem recommends, 'going for a statement color like lime to immediately refresh typical holiday decorations. For depth, mix textures and materials. Make the table more varied and exciting by thinking of ceramics, glasses, or fabrics.' He continues, 'Embrace a mix of styles. Blending a combination of modern and traditional decor can spice up the Thanksgiving table.'

Would you try a non-traditional take on Thanksgiving or Christmas decor this holiday season? If you decide this look is for you, Chrissy Teigen's Friendsgiving offers a great source of inspiration.
