Chrissy Metz's living room color palette is an innovative spin on 2025's biggest neutral – her terracotta tiles, leather chairs, and accent sofas are so inviting

Warm neutrals are nothing new. 'Quiet luxury' has remained a key look since 2023. It persists into 2025 with its celebration of high-quality materials, interesting silhouettes, and most importantly: shades of cream, tan, and brown. I've seen hundreds of takes on this color palette by now, but Chrissy Metz's space brings something completely new.

The This is Us actress's living room color idea uplifts brown and tan with pleasing pops of blue and a white background. Acclaimed studio Disc Interiors designed the symmetrical space. Throughout the color scheme, their idea features a variety of natural materials and warm, inviting textures. Metz's living room is centered on a white fireplace with ironwork, which creates the ideal complement to the terracotta tiles in the foreground. It's been zoned to perfection, with a light blue rug demarcating the sitting zone. Her conversational seating setup includes two textured blue sofas, three brown armchairs, and a patterned blue and cream ottoman. It's a reinvention of the warm browns we've come to expect in interiors this year.

Interior design trends have remained steady on the color brown. With Pantone naming the warm neutral 'mocha mousse' as their 2025 Color of the Year, it's clear that we've only reached the tip of the iceberg in terms of this shade's popularity. Though I love a layered brown living room, including pops of blue takes it to the next level for me. I really like how these colors next to one another make each other appear brighter. Though I'd imagine this color scheme would look coastal, I think paired with the terracotta and matte white it looks more elevated Spanish.

If you are considering decorating with brown and blue, I would recommend starting with a light background to create a similar effect. Chrissy Metz's team uses white matte paint, but you could also use cream or a very light tan to ground the furniture. Then, as you select both brown and blue furnishings consider how the textures of the materials will interact with each other. For instance, part of what makes this living room so striking is the leather texture of the armchairs against the blue linen sofas. Try combining a smooth texture with a rougher one, and be sure to incorporate a variety of materials.

Just because a look is familiar, doesn't mean there aren't new ways to make it exciting. Chrissy Metz's living room is proof that it's never to late to transform a trending tone.
