Chris Trousdale dead: Dream Street singer dies after 'coronavirus battle'

Dream Street singer Chris Trousdale has died after contracting coronavirus.

The former boyband star was 34 years old.

A relative told TMZ Chris died on Tuesday night at a hospital in Burbank after contracting the disease from another family member.

He was best known for starring in American pop group Dream Street alongside Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger and Frankie Galasso.

Chris joined the band in 1999 when he was 14-years-old.

Dream Street's eponymous debut album was certified Gold in the US and the boys were catapulted to international attention.

However, the band split in 2002 as parents of the members sued band makers Louis Baldonieri and Brian Lukow over the boys being 'exposed to booze, women, and pornography'.

The parents won the civil case and the boys were all released from their contracts.

Trousdale went solo through the Disney Channel before putting his career on the back burner to care for sick mother.

He later went on to have television role son Lucifer, Austin & Ally, Shake It Up, and Days of Our Lives.

In 2014 he joined Spectra Music Group with plans to release a solo album, which still has not been released.

However, he did release a single, Summer, last year.

Yesterday, Chris participated in Blackout Tuesday and showed his support for Black Lives Matter by posting a single black tile on his Instagram account.

He captioned his post: "#theshowmustbepaused"

"He was the one who made me realize I was gay. Oh man this is heartbreaking."

There has been an outpouring of fan tributes on the comments section of his final post.

One wrote: "Rest in Paradise Chris. Been supporting you since 2008 when I discovered DS.

"I can’t believe this is true. I never had the chance to meet you or see you in concert but i know in my heart you’re such an amazing person. Keeping your loved ones in my prayers."
