The penalty has sparked contention - and now one prominent pundit is asking if the tech which gave it should be scrapped altogether.
Celtic emerged routine 2-0 winners away at Ross County in their final Premiership match before facing Rangers at Parkhead next Saturday. Burt their opener has been a source of controversy, after Cameron Carter-Vickers headed the ball onto the arm of Alex Iacovitti, although the contact occurred at short range after a tussle inside County's penalty box. Alexandro Bernabei finished things off in stoppage time to retain the nine point gap at the top of the league.
Willie Collum didn't spot it initially but the referee soon pointed to the spot for Jota to score after going to VAR for a second opinion. That got Robbie Savage in a playful mood when speaking to Record Sport columnist and Celtic hero Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live, asking him: "Celtic beat Ross County, but it wasn't a handball, what is happening?"
It was hardly a shirking of opinion the former striker gave in response to his co-host, saying: "Well, VAR in Scotland has been a disaster. They should scrap it.
"Next season they should scrap it. They brought it in halfway through this season and it hasn't worked so scrap it until you can use it properly, Scottish football."
