Chris Sutton has claimed Rangers have won the 'Doesn’t Matter Trophy' by beating Celtic in the final Premiership derby of the season.
The former Parkhead striker and Record Sport columnist was watching on as Ange Postecoglou's champions rotated out some key men like Kyogo, Greg Taylor and Daizen Maeda, on a day where Rangers were not caught napping. Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala goals ensured an emphatic 3-0 win for the Light Blues and ensures they don't go this season without a win over their rivals.
But with the League Cup and Premiership trophies already in the east-end cabinet, with a Scottish Cup potentially to follow suit, Sutton was in no mood for tears over this rare loss for Postecoglou's side. And instead has decided to offer the Ibrox club a backhanded trophy and compliment for their derby efforts. He tweeted: "Well done Rangers on winning the Doesn’t Matter Trophy against Celtic reserves. Brilliant stuff."
It is just the second time Celtic have lost this season in the league, their only other defeat coming against St Mirren in September. Meamwhile, it's the first win in the derby for Beale as boss.
