But in the end the club couldn't get a foothold in the game and were overtaken at the Premiership summit by their Glasgow rivals.
That sparked a reaction from Sutton, who joked that the issue would be taken to the SFA.
He tweeted: "I’m hearing Rangers have put in a complaint to the SFA about the Celtic ball boys and want the game replayed…"
