Chris Sutton pinpoints Celtic 'immediate' transfer necessity

Chris Sutton has insisted Celtic must "immediately" recruit a new striker to support Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Sky Sports pundit was impressed by a "phenomenal" first-half for Celtic against Hibs in a 2-0 win on Sunday.

However, he reckons the Scottish Premiership tie emphasised the need for another striker to be signed at Celtic - after Kyogo suffered a shoulder issue.

The striker was able to return to the pitch but was then withdrawn as a precaution with Mikey Johnston his replacement in the latter stages at Easter Road.

For Sutton, Celtic can't keep risking it with Kyogo and must remedy their striking options with a new number nine arriving this summer.

The pundit posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Phenomenal first half from Celtic. McGregor’s goal was sensational.

"Hibs slightly better second half but as per patience is required with the new manager David Gray.

"Another centre forward is required immediately for Celtic mind they can’t keep risking with just Kyogo."

Celtic have been continually linked with a swoop for Adam Idah after the striker impressed on loan in Glasgow last season.

The Norwich striker was involved for the Championship club last season and Brendan Rodgers stated attempts to strike a deal for the forward are "ongoing".

"It's ongoing. I have no update on it. He is obviously a player that did really well for us last year.

"But he's still a Norwich player, he came on for them yesterday. I don't want to speak too much on him.

"We'll see what the rest of the window brings."
