Chris Sutton mocks Kenny Miller's Rangers 'toe to toe' Celtic claim as he lays out brutal big game record

Chris Sutton has mocked Kenny Miller's claim that Rangers have gone "toe-to-toe" with Celtic since Michael Beale took over.

The Gers will finish the season trophyless after the Hoops collected a second successive Premiership title, and lost their Scottish Cup crown after their rivals knocked them out at the semi-final stage, gaining revenge for last season's Hampden reverse. A late Kyogo Furuhashi goal at Ibrox back in January denied Beale a first Old Firm victory and kept Rangers at arm's length in the title race. This is all after Celtic lifted the Viaplay Cup at their rival's expense in February.

A first derby victory was achieved in Govan earlier this month, but it was too little too late with Celtic clinching the championship at Tynecastle the previous weekend, making it two our of three in their quest for an eighth treble in the club's history. Miller believes Beale has proven he can match up with Ange Postecoglou based on their comparative record since the Londoner returned to Glasgow, but that view was given the short shrift by Sutton, who couldn't resist a cheeky dig at the former Scotland striker.

He tweeted: "Toe to toe = drew league game that really mattered at home, lost League Cup final, lost Scottish Cup semi final, lost league game that really really mattered … won meaningless dead rubber… everyone’s toe to toe is different in fairness to Kenny."
