Chris Sutton makes 'absolutely ridiculous' Liverpool title claim in Premier League

The Premier League title race is far from over.

Liverpool's victory over Burnley on Sunday afternoon saw Jurgen Klopp's side maintain the pressure on league leaders Manchester City, who are all too aware of the fact that any slip-up of theirs will likely be punished.

Nine points separate the sides as things stand, though the Reds still have one game in hand on the Sky Blues and can close the gap to just six.

Liverpool's defeat to Leicester City in December left many people saying that the title race was well and truly over, though this narrative could soon change depending on results within the next month.

Former Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton is certainly of the view that plenty can still change - particularly as City host the Reds in April - and has claimed it is ‘absolutely ridiculous’ to suggest that Klopp's side cannot clinch top spot.

“Are you writing Liverpool off?" Questioned Sutton on 606 after Robbie Savage suggested that City won't be caught.

"You are saying that Liverpool can’t win the title this season," he added.

“That’s absolutely ridiculous. It will be six points if they win their game in hand and they have got to play Manchester City as well.

“Come on, come on! Liverpool can still win it.”

Pep Guardiola's side last suffered a Premier League loss back in October, which saw Crystal Palace earn a surprise win at the Etihad Stadium.

Southampton are the only other side to have taken points off the Citizens since October 30, having held City to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's Stadium at the end of January.
