Chris Sutton & Kris Boyd debate Dundee United vs Rangers VAR fl

Kris Boyd thinks Dundee United were lucky to finish their Scottish Premiership match against Rangers with 11 men on the park.

Emmanuel Adegboyega escaped with only a booking following a late challenge on Rangers’ Connor Barron.

The Glasgow giants were adamant it should’ve been a red, but VAR opted to stick by Don Robertson’s on-field decision.

Outspoken pundit, Boyd, drew comparisons to Benjamin Kimpioka’s sending off for St Johnstone during their 2-0 defeat to Hibernian on Saturday.

And debating with Celtic hero Chris Sutton, the pair came to the confusion that the Dundee United defender was fortunate to not be penalised further.

“There’s probably more contact than what Kimpioka was sent off for yesterday,” Boyd said on Sky Sports.

“It’s a red then is it?,” Sutton responded.

Initially looking at the dismissal of the St Johnstone player on Saturday afternoon, Boyd replied: “You can see there, he’s going to block this going up the line, I’m not convinced he touches the full-back there, I think he blocks that coming up the line, and he doesn’t touch him.”

(Image: Sky Sports) “He’s (Adegboyega) touched Connor Barron there, and there is a lunge and that looks like excessive force there,” the former Rangers striker continued.

Sutton chimed back in looking for Boyd to provide a conclusive verdict and asked : “So it’s a red then?

To which Boyd stated: “I think it’s a red card.”
