Chris Sutton says Rangers received an 'obligatory' penalty during a 3-1 stroll over Kilmarnock in their return to Premiership duty.
Connor Goldson and Fashion Sakala goals put them on easy street early doors against Derek McInnes' side, who have taken just two points on the road all season. Then they got a third through James Tavernier's penalty when Ryan Alebiosu was deemed to have handled the ball inside the box following a challenge on Ryan Kent.
It was taken to VAR and referee Willie Collum eventually pointed to the spot after a lengthy check, although McInnes had no complaints about it being given post-match. It cuts the Celtic gap at the top of the league to six points ahead of their game away to St Mirren, and former Wales man Savage cheekily asked Parkhead hero Sutton 'can Rangers win the Scottish Premiership' as they began to recap the day's action around the major UK leagues on Five Live.
The Record Sport columnist was in a playful mood too as fallout still lingers from last Sunday's League Cup final defeat at the hands of Celtic, replying: "Let's here from Rangers fans. A lot of dissatisfaction last week losing the cup to your big rivals, Celtic.
"Let us hear from you, Rangers fans, are you still in a title race after the win today against Kilmarnock? Obligatory penalty awarded at Ibrox but is there that belief do you think, does Michael Beale believe?"
